Nyx Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick Review + Swatches

The NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick line caught my eye as soon as I first found out about the collection. Twelve different nude/brown shades? I’ll take them all please and thank you! Plus, at $6.99/each it’s hard to go wrong! I picked up Satin Ribbon at my local Ulta one day purely because it was the only shade left, and I was really curious about the formula. After trying  out Satin Ribbon, I knew the formula was a win so I picked up Ruffle Trim too!

Satin Ribbon // Ruffle Trim

I believe Satin Ribbon is the palest shade in the collection, but it’s still super wearable. I also like to use it to mix with other liquid lipsticks to lighten them up or make their formula less dry.

Ruffle Trim is right up my alley! A really pretty brownish nude with a slight red undertone. It’s almost an exact dupe for the new Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipsticks in Sell Out ($21). Although the NYX Lip Lingerie formula is completely different from the Too Faced Melted Matte. You can read my full review of the Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipsticks here.

So, you’re probably wondering about the formula? Well, it’s definitely very unique. I think the best way to describe it would be a whipped mousse. It’s super lightweight, but still very creamy. Because of it’s whipped moussey texture, I could see how some of the darker shades could be a bit patchy (but I haven’t tried any of the darker ones yet). It does take a few minutes to dry down, but once it’s dry it stays on for about 4-5 hours. It is one of the least long lasting liquid lipsticks that I own, but at the same time it’s one of the most comfortable formulas that requires the least amount of prep to wear (i.e. no lip scrub or applying lip balm before you wear these). I prefer the formula of the NYX Lip Lingerie over the Colourpop Ultra Matte! That being said, I do use the NYX to mix with my Ultra Matte shades to make them more comfortable on my lips.

Bottom line? I highly recommend the NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick! The quality is great, shade range is awesome, and the price is even better! Good job on this one NYX!
